I’M NOT YOUR TYPICAL CREATIVE
AND I BELIEVE THAT IS MY GREATEST STRENGTH
Someone who has focused on UX professionally and academically will undoubtedly have a depth of knowledge in the field. However, my strength is in bringing refined skills from related fields and experiences.
Living in the Japan for the past several years has been a constant learning experience. The Japanese culture, travel, and language continues to have a profound effect on my cultivation of empathy and design sensibilities.
My bachelors degree is Business Administration with a focus on Marketing Management at Dalhousie University, Canada. Therefore, my goal is to present designs that communicate how they solve the business’s objectives.
In 2014 I graduated with a Master of Arts in Film Directing from the University of Edinburgh at the School of Design (Edinburgh College of Art). The foundation of the curriculum was research-based 'design thinking', which flows through all of my work.
FILM [WRITING & DIRECTING]
My short film Konoyo, explores memory, transience, and Japanese tsunami disaster. The practice of writing and directing continues to develop my narrative process and intuition for observing users and crafting personas.
My background as co-founder and manager of the TEDxOsaka conference offered experience in organizing large-scale events, social media marketing, and managing a team of over 40 volunteers.
Working in Japan as communications lecturer for universities, and Japanese corporations (product design groups) has offered a vast amount of public speaking experience (more than 10,000 hours). So, presenting designs to colleagues, stakeholders, and clients leverages my core strength.
