Ridley Scott Insights on Directing

Ridley Scott is one of the most iconic directing talents of our age. In this interview Ridley shares valuable insights on his directing approach and how he got started in his career.

The hardest single thing to do as filmmaker is to choose your subject. What am I going to do?  A bit like being a painter, what am I going to paint? ... When you first begin there are a million options... As you get more experienced, yeah older, your choices become more focused.
I must of done at least 2000 commercials personally. I camera operated on all of them, so by being on operator you not only very intimately connected to the actors or whoever is in front of the lens. When you were shooting normally it would be a reflex camera like still photography, so that I can do this (wave my hand) and talk to you.
