'Osaka 2019' Short Film Set to Blade Runner Dialogue Track

This short film was shot along the Dotonbori River side in downtown Osaka, Japan. Don't know about you guys but every time I walk by the this area I always get that futuristic impression so I decided to do something with my thoughts. It is set to the Blade Runner dialogue track, the scene when Deckard meets Rachel. I shot this film on my Canon 60D with the Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 and the manual focus Nikkor 50mm 1.4. It was edited with Final Cut Pro. Some people have asked me what is the meaning behind this short piece. I guess that is up to you to figure out. Enjoy!

Osaka Film Festival: Kevin Spacey in Chinese Production

osakafilmfest1.jpg

The Osaka Film Festival(March 8th to 18th) is a very small festival in it's 7th year, so I was very surprised and fortunate to view a film with Kevin Spacey in the cast. I watched a film titled Inseparable, actually it was a Chinese film written and directed by Dayyan Eng. Some interesting facts from Wikipedia: Inseparable is a black comedy film written and directed by Dayyan Eng. The film stars two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey and Chinese stars Daniel Wu and Gong Beibi. According to Variety, Spacey is the highest-profile Hollywood actor ever to star in a Chinese production.

Premise: Inseparable centers on a young man (Daniel Wu) with problems at home and work who is befriended by a mysterius American expat (Kevin Spacey). Beibi Gong co-stars as the young man’s investigative reporter wife.

The festival itself was very small as I said. I think the Cine Nouveau theater in Osaka was the smallest viewing venue of my life. There was capacity for about 50 but it had a very cool artsy atmosphere. As for the film, I thought it was very funny and fresh with a good dose of conflict supported by great acting to keep things interesting. Without giving too much away the film put a neat spin on the super hero thing...Overall a recommended go see!
